Synchronous coordination in the μ Log coordination model

Abstract

In this paper we investigate the effects of synchronous communication in the µLog coordination framework. We start by defining the concept of synchronous coordination and then introduce it into the µLog framework. We formally present the transition rules for the synchronous coordination, and discuss some of the consequences of the choices we have made. From the transition rules follows that synchronous tell and synchronous get are actually very similar and can be expressed in terms of two elementary primitives: put and wait. It turns out that these two primitives are powerful enough to also support the other µLog communication primitives.
