Recoverable and humidity‐tolerant colorimetric sensors are extremely difficult to overcome. In this work, a composite hydrogel sensor based on chelation reaction is proposed for the first time to achieve ultra‐fast recovery and ultra‐low detection limit (LOD) of H2S colorimetric sensing. The composite hydrogel sensor is constructed by polyvinyl alcohol/boric acid/Pb2+ (PVA/Bn/Pb) hydrogel sensing layer and polyacrylamide/sodium alginate (PAM/SA) hydrogel adsorption layer. The change from white to brown is achieved in H2S and can be restored when placed in the air. The response/recovery mechanism is explained by the transfer of Pb2+ between hydrogels and the formation of an “Alginate‐Pb2+” with egg‐box structure during the process. The multimodal fusion deep neural network (MF‐DNN) can overcome the error caused by hydrogel aging. Due to the excellent loading and diffusion function provided by the 3D structure of hydrogel, the sensor has a broad detection range of 0.2–100 ppm, a response/recovery time of 10s/32s, and a theoretical LOD of 0.026 ppm. A smartphone‐based H2S sensing system is developed to enable non‐invasive halitosis diagnosis, egg freshness detection, and remote H2S monitoring and alarming. The system is recoverable, humidity‐tolerant, capable of ultrafast detection and widely applicable. This work provides inspiration for humidity‐tolerant and recoverable H2S gas sensing.

Hydrogels are renowned for their complex structures and unique physicochemical properties, establishing them as key materials in bioenergy harvesting applications. They are used in various applications, including triboelectric nanogenerators, piezoelectric, hydraulic, thermoelectric, and biofuel cells. Among these, hydrogels as key materials for thermoelectric applications represent a technology capable of continuously converting biological energy (thermal energy) into electrical energy. This technology shows great potential and commercial value in body monitoring, energy storage, and human‐machine interaction applications. Given its rapid development, a timely review focusing on the research progress of hydrogels and their composites in thermoelectric technology is presented. This review discusses various types of hydrogels used for thermoelectric power generation and refrigeration, their unique properties, strategies for enhancing their thermoelectric performance, and their applications in the field. Finally, the remaining challenges and feasible strategies are identified for improving the efficiency, stability, application range, and system‐level integration of next‐generation hydrogels for thermoelectric applications.

The relentless increase in global energy consumption, coupled with the detrimental effects of over‐reliance on non‐renewable fossil fuels, has necessitated a paradigm shift in the energy industry towards sustainable energy sources. Thermoelectric materials have emerged as a promising avenue for harnessing waste heat, offering a viable solution to the dual challenges of energy scarcity and environmental pollution. Compared with traditional electronic thermoelectric materials, ionic thermoelectric (i‐TE) materials have received increasing attention. This review provides an overview of the recent advancements in i‐TE materials based on the thermodiffusion effect, including an in‐depth analysis of the fundamental principle, material design, and potential applications. The significance of material selection is highlighted, with types of i‐TE materials ranging from liquid to quasi‐solid and solid states, each presenting unique advantages and challenges. The innovative microstructural engineering and regulating interactions are identified as key strategies to enhance the thermoelectric performance of i‐TE materials. Furthermore, the applications in capacitors and generators and sensing devices are summarized, demonstrating their potentials in varieties of scenarios. Encouraged by the recent rapid progresses, it is believed that the ionic i‐TE materials and related technology are expected to generate practical impacts in the future solutions for sustainable energy.
