Synthesis and Characterization of A Novel Layered Aluminophosphate of Kanemite-like Structure

Abstract: The synthesis and structural characterization of a novel layered aluminophosphate (named AlPO-ntu) with a structure mimicking to that of the naturally occurring silicate mineral kanemite are described. This new compound was synthesized using the hydrothermal method and n-alkylamines as templates. On the basis of the results of thermal and elemental analysis, the chemical formulas were determined to be AlPO 3 (OH) 2 [NH 2 (CH 2 ) x CH 3 ] (x ) 3, 5, and 7) for templates of butyl-, hexyl-, and octylamines, respe… Show more

“…[9,10] The innovative synthesis starts from ALPO-ntu, [11] a layered aluminophosphate that is structurally analogous to SiO 2 kanemite, which contains two fundamental components of the ALPO structure. This strategy led to a CHA-type solid with a peculiar layered morphology, [10] which is unusual in that it contains both SDAs within the same cages.…”

“…The presence of the signals at about 1600 and 1500 cm −1 is related to the presence of the alkylammonium ion [27] these signals are attributed to the N-H bending at NH 3 + and their presence indicates that the amine is protonated and is present as counter-cation of the structural negative charges in the final materials [7]. A careful view of the crystals in Figure 5 showed that they have a lamellar appearance in some of their sides indicating that the precursor to final product formation occurs mainly due to a localized transformation and rearrangement of the lamellar aluminophosphate [8,28,29].…”

“…However this road remained unexplored until the report of a layered aluminophosphate (AlPO-ntu) isostructural to the siliceous kanemite [7]. This lamellar aluminophosphate, herein designated as AlPO-kan, was then used as Al and P single-source in the synthesis of diverse SAPOs denominated as the CAL (acronym of CAmpinas-ALessandria) family molecular sieves [8].…”

“…The layered structure was obtained as organophilic structure with d-spacing linearly growing with the length of intercalant aliphatic chain. 84 The potential for the use of these materials in PNCs is excellent, and hopefully, the interest in them will intensify. …”
