Synthesis and characterization of sugarcane bagasse cellulose‐capped silver nanoparticle using ultrasonic irradiation for the adsorption of heavy metal

Abstract: Metal nanoparticles are often used as an alternative to conventional adsorbents for water purification. They have higher adsorptive capabilities and affinity towards pollutants while being required in lower amounts than conventional adsorbents. Nano-adsorbents have shown superior adsorption efficiencies towards trace heavy metals in water, which are a significant pollutant in industrial wastewaters. It is desirable to synthesize the nano-adsorbents in a rapid, controlled, eco-friendly, and low-cost manner, usi… Show more

“…SOLB extract contains functional groups with many hydroxyl groups and is utilized to reduce Cu 2+ ions to Cu + ions and Au(III) to Au(0) to form Au−Cu 2 O NPs. 30 The Au−Cu 2 O NCs have been used for further application in the degradation of DC. SOLB extract largely consists of reducing groups used in NC synthesis.…”

“…The use of SOLB provides an alternative route for waste management. SOLB extract contains functional groups with many hydroxyl groups and is utilized to reduce Cu 2+ ions to Cu + ions and Au(III) to Au(0) to form Au–Cu 2 O NPs . The Au–Cu 2 O NCs have been used for further application in the degradation of DC.…”

“…As reported, the SOLB extract largely consists of cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin, which function as reducing and capping agents making SOLB a suitable extract for the synthesis of highly functionalized and stable Au NPs. 24 SOLB extract containing reducing sugars when added to gold chloride solution may cause the reduction of gold ions in the reaction and formation of purple gold NPs. The unique composition of SOLB makes it an efficient agent for the rapid reduction of gold ions (Au 3+ ) to Au NPs.…”

“…In this study, considering the current disadvantages, we aimed to synthesize the sage leaves extract coated with silver nanoparticles (SLE-AgNPs) by the ultrasonic method in a short time (5 min), economically, without the need for high temperature and pressure with the green chemistry approach [26]. Considering these environmental concerns, the aim of this study is to develop the preparation of SLE-AgNPs with homogeneous distribution by a fast method under high-intensity ultrasonic irradiation based on green chemistry principles.…”
