Abstract:. Surface-active derivatives containing fluorenylidene groups were synthesized, with the goal of creating thin-film devices incorporating monolayers of electron-transporting materials. The new compounds were studied in monolayers at the air-water interface, and were further characterized by cyclic voltammetry. The spreading behaviour of long-chain esters of a fluorenylidene malononitrile carboxylic acid was relatively insensitive to the cross-sectional area of the hydrocarbon chain, but was more strongly affec… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
