Synthesis and Structure of the Clusters [Hg2(μ—SePh)2(SePh)2(PPh3)2] and [Hg3Br3(μ—SePh)3] · 2 DMSO

Show more

“…Novel Hg 2 S 2 ring motifs exist within the [(F 5 C 6 ) 2 Hg(μ-SC 6 F 5 ) 2 Hg(C 6 F 5 ) 2 ] 2– dianions ( 64 ), derived via [SC 6 F 5 ] − group transfer involving lanthanide thiolates (e.g., La(SC 6 F 5 ) 3 ) and Hg(SC 6 F 5 ) 2 ; a similar diamond core structure motif is present in the phosphonium salt (Ph 4 P) 2 [Hg 2 (SPh) 6 ] ( 65 ) . The search for new precursors to II/VI semiconductors, such as HgSe, led to the preparation of the phosphine-capped selenolate dimer [(Ph 3 P)Hg(μ-SePh)SePh] 2 ( 66 ) with a slightly distorted Hg 2 Se 2 square-shaped core …”
