Synthesis, characterization and antimicrobial activity of copper(II) Schiff base adducts of some p-substituted aniline Schiff bases

Abstract: The synthesis, characterization and antimicrobial activity of Cu(II) complexes of some p-substituted aniline Schiff base ligands have been carried out. The Schiff bases were obtained from salicylaldehyde and o-vanillin. The Cu(II) complexes have been characterized by elemental analysis, conductivity measurement, infrared and electronic spectral data. The complexes were obtained either as metal chelates [Cu(L)2] or Schiff base adducts (CuCl2.2LH).xH2O. The metal chelates were non-electrolytes while the Schiff b… Show more

“…A thermoelectric Mp apparatus (SMP-10 Stuart) was used and the melting point of the compounds was determined . The prepared compounds were prepared using a glass test tube and using a (UV-Vis spectrophotometer (Shimadzu UV-1800)) at a concentration (3)(4)(5)(6)(7)(8)(9)(10) in a solvent (dimethyl sulfoxide) using a quartz cell (1.0 cm) and a sampling interval (2 nm). A ((Bruker)) 300 MHz NMR was also used to take electron spectra of the produced compounds.…”

“…The orthomethoxy aniline has shown better dissolvable when compared to aniline as well as the fact monomeric excellent resistance to rust. 6,7 The metal ions may seep to groundwater and possibly seep to drinking water and leech into the soil, leading to accumulating these ions in plants and animals, and may cause serious health risks in humans. The naked eye method is an important, facile method, high selectivity and sensitivity for detecting metal ions such as iron, copper, zinc, and ions based on azo dyes and schiff base dyes.…”
