Synthesis, Characterization and Ion-Exchange Properties of Terpolymer Resin-II Derived from p-Hydroxybenzaldehyde, Thiourea and Ethylene Glycol

Abstract: Ion-exchange resin (HBTE-II) was synthesized by polycondensation in the presence of polyphosphoric acid as a catalyst using monomers p-hydroxybenzaldehyde (0.2 M), thiourea (0.1 M) and ethylene glycol (0.4 M) at 120 0 C. The terpolymer resin was characterized by elemental analysis, the number average molecular weight, UV-Visible, IR and 1 H NMR spectrum.
