Synthesis, characterization and thermal behavior of copper(II) complexes with pyridoxal thiosemi (PLTSC)- and S-methylisothiosemicarbazone (PLITSC)

Abstract: The syntheses of complexes of Cu(II) with biological active ligand, pyridoxal thiosemicarbazone (PLTSC) and its derivative, pyridoxal S-methylisothiosemicarbazone, are described. All coordination compounds were characterized by elemental analysis, molar conductivity and infrared spectra. The crystal and molec-is determined by single-crystal X-ray crystallography, too. The thermal decomposition of all the ligands and complexes was determined by simultaneous TG/DSC measurements. The decomposition mechanisms were… Show more

“…Four complex compounds bearing the same PLTSC ligand were selected to investigate the effect of metal ions on the structural parameters (Figure 1). Fe-PLTSC, Co-PLTSC, and Cu-PLTSC crystal structures were taken from the Cambridge Crystallographic Data Center (CCDC) [28,29,37]. At the same time, the described procedure for synthesizing Ni-PLTSC led to a slightly different structure than the one previously obtained [19].…”

“…This phenomenon is further confirmed by magnetic moments values. Also, the g||/A|| values considered as a diagnostic of stereochemistry [39], in the range reported for tetragonal distorted octahedral complexes 150 to 250 cm -1 . The calculated orbital publications for the cobalt(II) complexes (6) indicates a d(x2-y2) ground state [40]which shows isotropic spectra with values 2.15 confirmed octahedral structure [35,40].…”

“…A shift in the C=S band in the metal complexes from 841 cm -1 of PLTSC indicate the coordination of sulphur to the metal ion. [43] Dipeptides are coordinated in tridentate mode via nitrogen of free amino group, nitrogen of peptide nitrogen and oxygen of deprotonated carboxyl group. Existence of the free dipeptides as zwitter ions in the solid state is confirmed by a medium intensity band near 2100 cm -1 region, due to δ(NH3 + ) and ρ(NH3 + ).…”
