Synthesis, Characterization, Fluorescence, Electrochemical, Antimicrobial and Cytotoxic studies of Cobalt(II), Nickel(II) and Copper(II) Complexes with N-4-Methylphenyl (2,4-dihydroxyacetophenylideneimine)

Abstract: N-4-Methylphenyl (2,4-dihydroxy acetophenylideneimine) (NMEPDHAPI) complexes of Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) have been synthesized and characterized. A study on their electrochemical, fluorescence and biological behaviour have also been performed. The complexes have been characterized on account of metal estimation studies, conductance behaviour, magnetic property, IR, UV-visible, EPR(Liquid nitrogen temperature) spectral studies and thermal analysis. The 1:2 metal : ligand complex formation is authenticated fro… Show more

“…[ 15 ] The sharp bands at 3348.48 cm ‐1 and 3288.63 cm ‐1 indicate the presence of phenolic –OH groups [ 16 ] and the bands at 1244.09 cm ‐1 and 1112.93 cm ‐1 are due to C–O stretching vibrations of phenolic groups. [ 17 ] The bands at 630.72 cm ‐1 , 717.73 cm ‐1 and 759.95 cm ‐1 evidence the presence of C‐Br bond. [ 18 ]…”

“…[15] The sharp bands at 3348.48 cm -1 and 3288.63 cm -1 indicate the presence of phenolic -OH groups [16] and the bands at 1244.09 cm -1 and 1112.93 cm -1 are due to C-O stretching vibrations of phenolic groups. [17] The bands at 630.72 cm -1 , 717.73 cm -1 and 759.95 cm -1 evidence the presence of C-Br bond. [18] The C=N stretching frequency observed at 1597.06 cm -1 in the ligand is shifted to 1600.92-1633.71 cm -1 in the complexes indicating the coordination of the azomethine nitrogen to the metal.…”
