Synthesis, growth, structure, spectroscopic, and physicochemical properties of 18-Crown-6-ether barium (II) bisthiocyanate monohydrate single crystal: BCBT

Abstract: We reported the bulk size with a dimension of 18×5×5 mm3 single-crystals of 18C6(Ba)(SCN)2.H2O [18-crown-6-ether barium(II) bisthiocyanate monohydrate]; abbreviated as BCBT, have been grown from an aqueous solution via slow evaporation solvent technique(SEST). The grown pristine single-crystals have characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction (XRD), FT-IR, micro-Raman, and UV-Vis-NIR spectral studies. BCBT crystallizes in a monoclinic with a non-centrosymeetric space group of P21 crystal system. Addition… Show more

“…Additionally, the lower ranges 294 cm −1 , 104 cm −1 and 92 cm −1 are due to the existence of BaO groups. 36,37 UV-Visible NIR spectral analysis.-The UV-Vis-NIR spectroscopic analysis is a non-destructive procedure and it is utilized to compute the optical properties such as transmittance, optical absorption and refractive index ( ) n 0 etc The optical properties of grown single-crystal were examined by UV-Vis. spectrometer (SHIMADZU, UV 3600 PLUS) in the wavelength range of 200 to 2000 nm.…”

“…In addition to this, the organometallic-based metal thiocyanate ligand (SCN) − has been shown to increase the molecular hyperpolarizability by transferring electron density between the metal and the ligand [M-L] or the ligand to the metal [L-M]. [10][11][12][13] Organic ligand-based crystalline materials are more dominant in NLO effects. The saturable light absorption is an important nonlinear optical property of materials where the transmission increases with increasing light intensity.…”
