Synthesis of pineapple slab like morphology of ternary BiVO4/graphene/porphyrin nanocomposite with enhanced visible light photocatalytic activity

Abstract: In this work, composites of BiVO 4 with different contents of graphene are synthesized. Photocatalytic investigations determine that the prepared BiVO 4-graphene (BVG) nanocomposite with 0.5% of graphene has higher photocatalytic activity among the synthesized nanocomposites. The photocatalytic efficiency of BVG is 2 times higher than BiVO 4. To improve the photocatalytic activity under visible light irradiation, the prepared nanocomposite was photosensitized with porphyrin as strong light harvesting agent. Th… Show more

“…For instance, Aghakhaninejad et al described the synthesis of ternary composites, where BiVO 4 replaced TiO 2 . 154 This resulted in the formation of a BiVO 4 /G/TCPP hybrid material, which exhibited a distinct pineapple slab-like morphology. Following 30 minutes of visible light exposure, the composite displayed 78% efficiency in the photodegradation of MO, marking a 3.5-fold improvement compared to its binary counterpart, BiVO 4 /G.…”
