Synthesis, properties and thermal stability of water‐soluble poly(potassium 1‐hydroxyacrylate‐co‐styrene) copolymer

Abstract: The present work investigates the structure properties of copolymers using thermogravimetric analysis, hot stage microscopy, static light scattering, field emission scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction analysis and a Brookfield viscometer. Poly(potassium 1-hydroxyacrylate) (PKHA) is a water-soluble polymer. However, the copolymer of styrene and 2-isopropyl-5-methylene-1,3-dioxolan-4-one is not water soluble at equal molar ratio because the polystyrene reduces the solubility. The effect of styrene on… Show more

“…These polymers exceed the molar mass upper limit of our SEC/LS detector; therefore, SLS was employed to determine their weight-averaged molecular weight (M w ). [28][29][30] The M w of the polymers was determined by SLS at 623 nm between angles 30 -150 with various concentrations of each polymer prepared (0.2-2.0 mg mL −1 ). The M w and radius of gyration (R g ) were determined via a Zimm plot analysis (Supporting Information Table S1, ESI).…”

“…The polyester‐based thermosets of EU prepared through curing, as shown in Figure 11. Several researchers have been reported the DOX‐based monomers using the acid catalyst 78–81 . Compared to the commercial polyester‐based thermosets, it depicted the comparable tensile strength and young's modulus around 70.8 MPa and 8.8 GPa, respectively, at a low value of strain 1.4% 82–84 .…”
