“…The complete rupture of the cells depicted that the complex bound to the cell wall and ruptured it due to oxidative stress on E. coli, entering into the nucleus, thereby degrading the chromosomal DNA by preventing protein synthesis which is essential for all cellular metabolism. 109 With the specific goal of assessing the impact of metal atoms upon chelation, some biologically active SB ligands obtained from 5-chloro-3-phenyl-1H-indole-2-carboxyhydrazide and 3-formyl-2-hydroxy-1H-quinoline and their CuIJII), CoIJII), NiIJII), ZnIJII), CdIJII), and HgIJII) complexes were thoroughly studied and characterized by various sophisticated spectral studies ( Fig. 11).…”

“…Upon progressive addition of ct‐DNA (0.00–4.0 × 10 −5 M) to fixed concentration of complexes (0.2 × 10 −4 M), a hyperchromic effect with a slightly blue shift of 3 to 5 nm was observed for the LMCT band centred at 407 nm (Figure ). The observed hyperchromism could be attributed to the external contact (surface binding) of complexes with ct‐DNA duplex via electrostatic mode, further synergised by other non‐covalent hydrogen‐bonding interactions of COO − and ─NH 2 of l ‐/ d ‐phenylalanine and 4‐(2‐aminoethyl)benzenesulfonamide, respectively. Additionally, hyperchromism with blue shift was also observed around 275 nm suggestive of stabilization of DNA double‐helix structure.…”

“…These Ni(II) complexes are diamagnetic in nature. The complexes 3 and 6 displayed broad band at 588 nm and 671 nm respectively, attributed to 2 B 1g → 2 E g for Cu(II) complexes [22,23]. The magnetic moment values of 3 is 1.81 BM and 6 is 1.75 BM.…”
