“…On the contrary condensation of 1,2‐diaminobenzene with thiophene‐2‐carboxaldehyde produced a different type of azomethine, which was used as ligand in the preparation of complexes 242 (Figure 29) of several transition metals, along with phenantroline as coligand. [ 220 ] Evaluation by the disc diffusion method showed that the zinc and nickel complexes had only moderate activity against all bacterial strains used in the study, while the cobalt and copper complexes had significant antibacterial activity. The diameters of the inhibition zone determined for complexes 242 (M = Cu) at various concentrations were consistently greater than the diameters of the inhibition zone of streptomycin for all the bacterial strains.…”

“…The Cu(II) complex in comparison to all other complexes, is more toxic and effective towards the microbes-S. aureus, B. species, and K. pneumonia with inhibitory zone values of 31.3, 25.7 and 19.7 mm respectively, and to the standard (streptomycin) with respective inhibition values of 22.0, 22.0 and 24.0 mm. Result of this kind, in which test compounds have greater antibacterial efficacy than the standard-streptomycin has been reported [36][37][38].…”
