Synthesis, Structure, and Spectroscopic Properties of Calcium Thiophenecarboxylate Polymers. Structural Comparison with Analogous Lead Complexes

Abstract: thiophene-3-acetate, 2mpa -2-methylpropanal), were synthesised using a self-assembly method. The obtained polymers were characterised using SC-XRD, FTIR, UV-Vis DRS, thermogravimetric and luminescence analyses. The polymer fluorescence studies showed that calcium complexes can emit light of different colours ranging from violet (1) and blue (2) to green (3). The molecular structure of each polymer consists of a calcium ion at the centre of a dodecahedral coordination sphere. The crystal structure consists of o… Show more

“…S2a †). The Ca-O EA distances of 2.337(14)-2.439(5) Å are normal, 48 but two Ca-O water lengths differ greatly (2.350(13) vs. 2.64(3) Å; Table S2 †). The deprotonation of four hydroxyl groups occurred to generate an EA 4− form, and two ortho-hydroxyl oxygen atoms adopted the bis-dentate-chelated mode (Fig.…”
