Synthesis, Structure, Spectroscopic Studies And Ab-Initio Calculations On First Hyperpolarizabilities Of N,N’-Bis(2-Hydroxy-1-Naphthylmethylidene)- 1-Methyl-1,2-Diaminoethane-N,N’,O,O’-Copper(Ii)

Abstract: N,N'-Bis(2-hydroxy-1-naphthylmethylidene)-1-methyl-1,2-diaminoethane-N,N',O,O'-copper(II) has been synthesized, and characterized by FT-IR and UV/vis spectroscopies. Its crystal structure has been determined by X-ray diffraction analysis. The maximum absorption wavelengths recorded by linear optical experiments are estimated in the UV region to be shorter than 450 nm, showing good optical transparency to the visible light. It may thus possess first hyperpolarizabilities with non-zero values for nonlinear optic… Show more

“…In the absence of azide or thiocyanate, tetradentate Schiff base ligands are formed, produced by the 1:2 condensations of the respective diamines with 2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde, which form four-coordinate square planar complexes (Scheme ). The structures of these complexes have been reported in the literature …”

“…Transition-metal compounds have been of great interest and importance for researchers since they play a critical role in the development of coordination chemistry in structures such as one-dimensional chains, two-dimensional layers, three-dimensional frameworks and especially metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) (Paul et al, 2016;Pal et al, 2016;Kongchoo et al, 2016). They have great potential applications, for example, as luminescent probes, in catalysis (Gungor et al, 2014), as sensors (Zheng et al, 2016), in nonlinear optics (Karakas et al, 2006), as single-molecule magnets (SMMs) (Kahn, 1993;Caneschi et al, 2015;Blacque et al, 2016) and for exhibiting biological activities (Jamaludin et al, 2016), and also in solar-cell and photovoltaic technologies (Freitag et al, 2016;Magni et al, 2016).…”

“…3,4 Nonlinear optical materials have been extensively studied for many years. [5][6][7][8][9] To design and fabricate NLO materials much effort is being devoted to understand the origin of non-linearity in large systems and to relate NLO responses to electronic structure and molecular geometry. Significant interest still exists in the design and development of materials exhibiting large second-order NLO response because of the potential application in telecommunications, optical computing, optical signal processing, laser technology, data storage and image processing.…”
