“…The results indicate that the inhibitory efficiency of the complex towards urease may be influenced by the transition metal and ligands, and the inhibitory activity probably is due to strong Lewis acid properties of copper ions and the ligands strengthen the inhibitory activity of the complexes. The results are in accord with those reported previously, where some Cu(II) complexes have stronger urease inhibitory activities to urease than their parent ligands and metal ion, with IC 50 ranging from 1 to 50 μM [15,28,[35][36][37][38][39]. Compared with the data reported before, the complexes reported in this study exhibit fairly strong inhibitory activity to urease and may be used as urease inhibitors.…”

“…Owing to their very flexible and variable structural characteristics, multiple Schiff bases and their complexes have been synthesized and studied. It is possible to use Schiff bases in many biological applications [14,[23][24][25][26]. They are considered as an important class of organic compounds.…”

“…They are considered as an important class of organic compounds. Some Schiff bases have been reported to possess antibacterial, antifungal, anticarcinogenic, anticonvulsant, antituberculosis, antioxidant, antimalarial, antiflammatory, anticorrosive, anti-HIV, and antitumor activities [14,[23][24][25][26][27][28][29][30]. When Schiff bases used as inhibitors were analyzed, their inhibitory effects were observed to vary by the type of functional groups attached to the benzene ring in the structure, if these bases contained aryl substituents [31,32].…”

“…They were assigned to NH(1) and OH(2) proton respectively. Both peaks were strongly de-shielded due to direct attachment to high electro negative atoms (Cui et al, 2012; Webster and Silver stein, 2006). The doublet signal at d = 9.13 ppm, and doublet of doublet signal at d = 8.83 ppm were attributed to H(3) and H(4) respectively.…”

“…The solution was refluxed for 4 h and te precipitate formed was allowed to stand at ambient temperature for 12 h after which it was filtered, washed and dried over P 4 (Figure 1.0) in DMSO-d6showed singlet peaks at d = 12.36 ppm and d = 11.21 ppm. They were assigned to NH(1) and OH(2) proton respectively.…”
