“…The success of platinum compounds against different types of cancers triggered a great deal of interest in the field of anti‐tumor metallodrugs . In this regard, gold(I) and gold(III) complexes have attracted special attention because some gold(I) complexes have already been used over many years for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis , . The antirheumatic gold(I)‐phosphine drug, auranofin emerged as the lead compound for the antiproliferatively active gold species .…”

“…Motivated by the promising results of our recent studies on the antitumor properties of gold(I) complexes containing phosphine and dithiocarbamate ligands,, , we prepared in the current study, two new gold(I) complexes of 2‐(diphenylphosphanyl)ethylamine or (2‐aminoethyl)diphenylphosphine ( 1 , 2 ) and three gold(I)‐dithiocarbamates ( 3 – 5 ). The complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, IR, 1 H, 13 C, and 31 P NMR spectroscopy and their antitumor activity was examined against A549 (human lung carcinoma), HCT15 (human colon cancer), and MCF7 (human breast cancer) cell lines by MTT assay.…”

“…Similar to 1, the Au-P bond distance is 2.2581(2) Å and the Au-S bond distance of 2.3247(2) Å is typical for Au(I) dithiocarbamates. For reference, the Au-S bond distances in (IPr)Au(S2CNEt2) and (IPr)Au[S2CN(CH2Ph)2], IPr = 1,3-bis(2,6-diisopropylphenyl)imidazole-2-ylidene, are 2.314(5) and 2.2999(12) Å, respectively [27], and 2.312(3) Å in Ph3PAu(indazol-1-yldithiocarbamate) [28]. With the recent use of CsBr3 to oxidize Au(I) to Au(III), we attempted a similar reaction with 1 [29].…”

“…Recently, the broad applications of NHC‐based (NHC=N‐heterocyclic carbene) gold(I) and (III) complexes in catalysis and their biological activities have also attracted much interest from researchers and the pharmaceutical sector . Benzimidazole‐ and imidazole‐containing drugs are currently in use as antiviral, antifungal, antihelmentic and diuretic .…”
