Abstract:This piece is a short response to Liu, Shindo, and Matsumoto's (2019) Development of a computer-assisted Japanese functional expression learning system for Chinese-speaking learners for the special issue: Shifting to Digital: Informing the rapid development, deployment, and future of teaching and learning. Key ideas, value, and future implications are culturally addressed in relation to a computer-assisted language learning system entitled Jastudy meant for Chinese learners of Japanese language.
