Tabrizicola aquatica gen. nov. sp. nov., a novel alphaproteobacterium isolated from Qurugöl Lake nearby Tabriz city, Iran

Abstract: A novel Gram-negative, aerobic, non-motile and rod-shaped bacterium was isolated from Qurugöl Lake near Tabriz city. The bacterium grew chemoorganolheterotrophically and chemolithoautotrophically. However, photo-organoheterotrophic, photo-lithoautotrophic and fermentative growth could not be demonstrated. The presence of photosynthesis genes pufL and pufM was not shown and photosynthesis pigments were not formed. Strain RCRI19(T) grew without NaCl and tolerated up to 3 % NaCl. Growth occurred at pH 6-9 (optimu… Show more

“…19 Here, the antimicrobial production ability of Tabrizicola aquatic RCRI19 T , a new bacterium isolated from Qurugol Lake located neighboring Tabriz city, Iran, is reported for the first time. 13 The whole genome of Tabrizica aquatica was sequenced. It is available in the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) with accession number of NZ_PJON00000000.1.…”

“…In this study, we especially focused on the gut micro-biota of freshwater fishes because, unlike other wildlife, little is known about the gut microbiota of freshwater organisms. As part of an investigation into the microbial diversity of various Korean indigenous freshwater fish, a Tabrizicola-like strain was isolated from the gut of oily bitterling (Acheilognathus koreensis) Tarhriz et al proposed the genus Tabrizicola in the family Rhodobacteraceae [8]. At the time of writing, the genus contains four species, Tabrizicola aquatica RCRI19 T , as the type species, Tabrizicola sediminis DRYC-M-16 T , Tabrizicola alkalilacus DJC T and Tabrizicola fusiformis SY72 T .…”

“…Colony morphology and colour were determined on cells grown on MA medium [41] after incubation at 28 °C for 3 days. Cell morphology of the strain CFH 90008 T was observed by using light microscopy (model BH2, Olympus), scanning electron microscopy (ESEM-TMP) and transmission electron microscopy (JEM 2100).…”
