“…Comparison of 20 studies with 202 patients who underwent pancreaticojejunostomy and ten studies with 129 patients who underwent pancreaticogastrostomy revealed that the cumulative incidence of pancreatic fistula was higher after pancreaticogastrostomy, although this was not statistically significant (23·4 versus 18·3 per cent; P = 0·263) ( Table ). Patients who underwent pancreaticojejunostomy had a higher cumulative incidence of exocrine failure (14·1 versus 5 per cent; P = 0·024).…”

“…Siddiqui [15] reported 4 cases of enteric duplication cyst in the pancreatic head, all of which were completely excised including 2 which communicated with the main pancreatic duct. In the absence of an intrapancreatic mass, simple ductal decompression or drainage procedures for chronic pancreatitis may be eff ective without an excisional procedure [1,3] . We felt that given the patient ' s severe pain, the evidence for chronic pancreatic duct obstruction and pancreatitis and the unknown nature of the mass, a pancreaticoduodenectomy would off er the best solution for the long term and avoid the risk of possible future malignancy, preserving pancreatic function and relieving her pain.…”

“…A resection of the most diseased pancreatic parenchyma has been shown to provide pain relief, at least in short term, in children with CP. Chromik et al [88] reported a series of six children with CP that have had partial pancreatectomies. Where this led to a transection or a discontinuation of the pancreatic duct, a lateral or a longitudinal PJ was fashioned to drain the tail of the pancreas.…”
