Abstract:Reperfusion of ischemic skeletal muscle triggers oxidative stress and an immediate inflammatory reaction, leading to damage of distant organs such as the lungs. The inflammatory process implicates numerous mediators, including cytokines, chemokines, and arachidonic acid metabolites.
