“…3,4). The low rate of C6 related side effects (Table 3) in this study is comparable to other reports showing a rate of hyperpigmentation from 2.2% to 44% [5,6] and hypopigmentation from 0% to 7.6% [7,8]. Notably, there were no cases of textural changes and/or scars while others reported this complication in up to 25% [9].…”

“…Q-switched ruby and Nd:YAG lasers have been studied and used safely in the treatment of patients of Ethiopian origin with tribal/religious tattoos. 55,56 In a study involving 404 Ethiopian Jews with SPT V and VI, blue/black charcoal-based tattoos (mostly involving the head and neck) were treated with the Q-switched Nd:YAG (n = 380) or ruby (n = 24) laser. Self-limited mild hyperpigmentation lasting 2-4 months was noted in 177 (44%) patients.…”

“…Self-limited mild hyperpigmentation lasting 2-4 months was noted in 177 (44%) patients. 55 Given the higher risk of pigmentary complications in SPT V and VI (especially when treating complex or multicoloured tattoos), test treatments are recommended. The use of the lowest effective fluence is also a preferred approach to minimize laserinduced dyschromias.…”
