TDMA-based multi-hop resource reservation protocol for real-time applications in tactical mobile adhoc network

Abstract: This paper proposes a new time division multiple access (TDMA) based multi-hop resource(slots) reservation protocol (TMRR) for tactical mobile adhoc networks (T-MANET). TMRR lets a node reserve the channel resource for multi-hop packet transmission in consecutive order, so that the packet transmission between a source node and a multi-hop away destination node is possible within a superframe. This paper evaluates the performance of the proposed protocol via OPNET simulation in terms of the average end-to-end d… Show more

“…To solve the problem of spectrum access in dynamic networks, many methods can implement dynamic spectrum access, including competition algorithms (such as ALOHA [46] and CSMA [47] ), reservation algorithms (such as FPRP [48] and NbIA [49] ), and the queuing algorithms (such as DLPS [50] ). With the development of evolutionary algorithms, including GA [51,52] , PSO [53] , and biological foraging algorithms [54] , researchers are increasingly trying to integrate their use in dynamic spectrum access.…”

“…As shown, we obtain higher throughput while using PRAC. However, when St backup [13] and DACP [25] are used, only medium throughput is obtained and when TMMR [18] is used, only lower throughput is obtained. From the results it is clear that the proposed protocol is capable of reducing the number of unnecessary routing packets during route discovery, by making admission control decisions at every node in the network.…”

“…In [1], a QoS-attaining scheme considering energy efficiency was proposed. In [18], a TDMA-based multihop resource reservation (TMRR) scheme was proposed for flow-based slot scheduling in order to minimize end-to-end delay, and the slot information in a beacon slot is exchanged in every frame. In [19], a contention-based slot allocation scheme, that reflects topology changes and traffic demand, was proposed.…”
