This document is the result of multiple investigations carried out by the authors, which have been published or are in the process of being published, where the starting point is a structural system in earthquake resistant steel that is lighter in weight: Special Concentrically Brace Frames SCBF, since in other investigations the authors have compared different steel structural systems and has come to the conclusion that SCBF is the lightest, however it maintains seismic resistant characteristics and is even more rigid than other systems without braces such as Special Moment Frames SMF, additionally it is placed in places where it is not necessary that the frames are braced using ordinary OMF moment frames. Eighteen structural archetypes have been designed, varying the distance between column axes, number of floors, but preserving their geometry and architecture. Of which 9 archetypes are made of SCBF structural steel and 9 of SMF type reinforced concrete. Both materials present acceptable and similar seismic-resistant conditions, so based on these designs, the cost and the amount of CO2 emitted are analyzed, considering the superstructure from level 0+00 and the substructure or foundations. The result is which structure is more environmentally friendly and alternatives of use according to area, number of floors and distances between axes looking for an economic optimization.

La interrogante frente a que material estructural es más económico hormigón armado o acero, es un cuestionamiento que ha estado en de discusión durante años por diversos ingenieros civiles, el presente artículo considera un sistema estructural (Pórticos Especiales a Momento) y los analiza en 18 arquetipos, 9 en acero y 9 en hormigón armado, variando alturas, números de niveles y distancia entre ejes (crújías). Buscando solventar la interrogante para el sistema estructural planteado. Se analiza mediante un enfoque sismo resistente considerando las especificaciones de la Norma Ecuatoriana de la Construcción, American Concrete Institute, y American Institute of Steel Construction. Donde los 18 arquetipos son estructuras dúctiles, sismos resistentes y cumplen con lo dispuesto en la normativa. Partiendo del diseño sismo resistente se analiza el costo constructivo de los elementos estructurales, tras culminar la presente investigación se ha determinado qué material es más económico en edificios de mediana y baja altura.

The decrease in oil production, the rise in environmental pollution, and the impending need to power areas in Colombia that do not currently have access to electricity have given the nation the task of finding new, decentralized, sustainable energy generation methods. Due to its favorable geographic location, renewable energy sources are a very appealing and affordable option in Colombia. This document presents a systematic literature review (SLR) developed to assess the recent techno-economic models and financial strategies in rural electrification using renewable energy systems. As a result, 19 documents were obtained, where the most informed funding sources included governmental, private and mixed shares. According to the information, the financial models were limited to estimate economic variables as levelized cost of electricity and net present cost. Finally, an emphasis on the need of governmental support to promote this kind of projects were reported.
