Techniques for automated local activation time annotation and conduction velocity estimation in cardiac mapping

Abstract: Measurements of cardiac conduction velocity provide valuable functional and structural insight into the initiation and perpetuation of cardiac arrhythmias, in both a clinical and laboratory context. The interpretation of activation wavefronts and their propagation can identify mechanistic properties of a broad range of electrophysiological pathologies. However, the sparsity, distribution and uncertainty of recorded data make accurate conduction velocity calculation difficult. A wide range of mathematical appro… Show more

“…1, showing those steps that are common to both signal modalities and those in which unipolar and bipolar signals are treated differently. Typically, unipolar electrogram activation is defined as the location of maximum negative gradient, while bipolar activation definitions vary and include the location of maximum amplitude 6. With this motivation, equivalent analyses were performed on the unipolar electrogram derivative and on bipolar electrogram signals.…”

“…In addition, whether sympathoexcitation-mediated changes in the peri-infarct zone are prevented by ␤-blockade was not studied. While there is agreement on the use of local EGMs to estimate local activation (8), the use of the activation recovery interval to Fig. 8.…”

“…This may stipulate the remapping of potential rotor sites using other approaches for confirmation. The three-dimensional structure of the atria and distribution of measurements represent important aspects in various processing techniques [13, 2527]. …”
