Technology for Protecting Cattle from Blood-Sucking Dipteric Insects and Myiasis Gadflys

Abstract

Objective: To develop a technology for protecting cattle from bloodsucking insects and myiasis gadfly of cattle in Yakutia. Methods: The experiments were carried out in farms "Tumul" and "Khorobut" Yakutia. The protective effectiveness of spraying aerosol mist over a herd of cows with 0.05% aqueous emulsion of deltamethrin was calculated using a method based on the determination of the coefficient of protective action (CPA), expressed as a percentage. The number of attacking insects was determined by direct counting. Results. In Yakutia, harmful blood-sucking and non-blood-sucking insects are widespread. To protect cattle from them, the technology of spraying with an aerosol mist has been developed, which sharply increases the effectiveness of animal protection, environmental friendliness, insecticidal, repellent and anti-stress treatment of cattle. Discussion: The effectiveness of the technology is based on the dispersion of liquid substances. Due to this, which causes a sharp increase in the activity of the active substance, accelerating the physicochemical processes. Conclusions: A technology has been developed to protect cattle from diptera blood-sucking insects and adult gadfly, patent for the invention of RUS No. 2724462.
