Temperature Dependence of the Structure of Liquid Indium

Abstract: 149we have plotted the reduced temperatures and densities and also the critical ratios of various substances against X and compared these with the results of our model, ' In the case of the critical ratio there is experimentally an increase of about 5%%uq as X increases from Xe to Hes, After completion of this paper M. E. Fisher supplied us with more recent experimental data collected by him for Ref. 4. However, use of those results makes only about 1% change to Fig. 2.

“…Most data on the thermal expansion of liquid metals and alloys have been obtained by means of density and dilatometer measurements, whereas there are only few works, in which this parameter is studied by diffraction methods at the atomic level [2][3][4]. However, these works are occasional so there is a necessity for a detailed study of the phenomenon of thermal expansion of liquid metals and alloys.…”

“…The strong correlation between the data obtained from the two methods is apparent. The energyscanning result has been compared also with recent existing data* (Black & Cundall, 1965;Wagner, Ocken & Joshi, 1965;Ocken & Wagner, 1966;Rivlin, Waghorne & Williams, 1966;Halder & Wagner, 1967Caputi, Rodriquez & Pings, 1968;Waseda & Suzuki, 1970;Ruppersberg & Reiter, 1972). Both the peak positions and the value of si(s) at each peak correlate well.…”
