Temperature dependence of xenon excimer formations using two-photon absorption laser-induced fluorescence

Abstract: Abstract. The temporal dependence of VUV emissions of the first continuum of xenon at around 150 nm are investigated for pressures ranging from 10 to 100 Torr and for temperatures ranging from 200 to 300 K, after briefly and selectively populating exclusively the resonant or the metastable atomic states of the 5p 5 6s configuration. A kinetic and spectroscopic study was performed by analyzing the VUV post luminescence decay of xenon operating with such excitation conditions. Our results clearly show the temper… Show more

“…TALIF has appeared as a significant technique in that field. It was extended to a wide variety of atoms, including O (Bischel et al 1982), N (Bischel et al 1982, Adams andMiller 1998), Cl (Heaven et al 1982), S (Brewer et al 1982), C (Das et al 1983), I (Brewer et al 1983, Tiee et al 1983, SH and SD radicals (Tiee et al 1983), F (Herring et al 1988), H (Preppernau et al 1989, Meier et al 1990, van der Heijden et al 2000, Boogaarts et al 2002, Kr (Whitehead et al 1995a), Xe (Marchal et al 2010) and Ar (Matsuta and Kitagawa 2012). Two-photon excitation was also optimized to prepare metastable Kr atoms (Dakka et al 2018).…”

“…The vacuum ultraviolet emission at 172 nm, attributed to a bound-free transition of Xe 2 dimers, has been deeply studied and widely applied to develop particle detectors [10] and excimer lasers [11]. For these reasons, the Xe 2 excimer formation has been extensively investigated [12]. It arises as a consequence of a three body collision between a ground state Xe atom with an excited one.…”
