Abstract:We report here the results of vacuum tunneling spectroscopy of rare-earth manganates which show colossal magnetoresistance (CMR) and charge ordering (CO). Three samples with different hole concentrations and average A site cation radii have been studied. A charge-ordering gap (∆ CO ) opens up in the density of states (DOS) near E F , below the charge-ordering transition. A gap comparable to the transport gap opens up in the paramagnetic state also. There is an absence of gap only in the ferromagnetic metallic … Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
