Abstract:Experimental data are presented for the polymerization of commercial styrene in a γ‐radiation flux of 20–51 rad/sec in the temperature range of 150–200°C. At radiation intensities above 20 rad/second, conversion rate is independent of dose rate over the range. Above 165°C, radiation does not enhance the conversion rate but does produce more rapid elimination of residual monomer. Molecular weights of polymer product in this temperature range are too low to be of commercial interest. An optimal temperature range… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
