“…Fortunately, many polymorphic forms only exist under conditions far from equilibrium, such as extremes of temperature, pressure, or their combination . In many other cases, polymorphic forms can be generated at, or recovered to, ambient conditions. These cases are troublesome for industry, particularly where a metastable polymorphic form is isolated under ambient conditions as a result of the processing conditions. , In such cases, aging of the structure can lead to spontaneous polymorphic transformations, and as in the case of Ritonavir, have potentially detrimental effects on its function . Furthermore, it is common for multiple polymorphs to occur concomitantly .…”

“…The low-temperature phase behavior of BD components may be complicated by polymorphism and pressure-induced crystallization of FAMEs. To date, very little research has been done on this problem; for example, Liu et al detected and characterized five crystal modifications of methyl stearate with pressure-dependent stability [ 92 , 93 ], whereas Prathapa et al studied the crystal package of C8–C13 saturated FAMEs systematically [ 94 ].…”

“… 5 It almost goes without saying that it is crucial to retain the same form of a drug in order not to be surprised by sudden changes in properties caused by the appearance of another form. 6 It is broadly known that various synthetic/crystallisation conditions (solvent effect, 7 the level of supersaturation, 8 temperature 9 and pressure 10 ) can lead to the occurrence of polymorphism. The phenomenon is related to the interplay of noncovalent intermolecular forces, for example hydrogen bonds, 11 halogen bonds 12 and π–π interactions, 13 different combinations of which can lead to the formation of disparate crystalline phases.…”
