Tendencies and Problems in the Shaping of College Students' Culture of Citizenship

Abstract

Survey data show a change in attitudes toward politics among young Russians, a tendency to be apolitical, and an increasing pragmatism. More generally, political activism as a goal of upbringing and propaganda in Russia is being replaced by the idea of the culture of citizenship.In the present article, a civil society is viewed as the qualitative state of the social organism as the result of the social actions of individuals in the framework of the particular culture. Such a representation is based on the sociocultural approach, and it finds expression in the formulation of the terms "culture of civic-mindedness" and "culture of citizenship."
