Ternary charge transfer complexes. IV. Complexes with Fe, Nb, Ta, Mo, W, or U in the anion

Abstract: Chem. 65, 445 (1987). NOMX6aromatic charge transfer complexes are formed from NOX and NbX5 or Tax5, where X may be F or C1 and the aromatic portion is a methyl-substituted benzene. NOMoF6, NOUF6, NOUF7, and NOWC17.aromatic complexes have been identified but only oxyfluoro species have been isolated when M is Mo, W, or U. NOTaC16,hexamethylbenzene crystallizes in the trigonal space group P 3 2 , with a = 9.822(3), c = 17.469 (7)

“…The interaction has been studied by using a topological analysis of the electron density, MIP and MIPp calculations. 4 X-Ray crystal structures of hexamethylbenzene nitrosyl hexachlorotantalum (FIKGAH), 29 dipotassium bis(catecholato)oxovanadium(IV) ethanol solvate monohydrate (BOBWOE) 30 and caesium 2-methoxybenzenecarbotelluroate (ZONKUI).…”

“…Monitoring the chemical shift of the aromatic fluorine atom, it becomes apparent that the nitrosoarene 2d was not formed until the aqueous workup was performed (see Figures S1–S8 in the Supporting Information). This could be explained by the formation of nitroso-substituted arenes which form a complex with additional NOBF 4 as described by Kochi. , …”

“…Numerous charge transfer (CT) complexes of type NO-MXnarene have been previously reported, where M may be B, Al, Ga, T1, P, As, Sb, Nb, Ta, Mo, W, U, or Fe; X may be F or C1; n may be 4, 6, or 7; and arene may be benzene or a methyl substituted benzene (1)(2)(3). Some of these complexes exhibit appreciable conductivity in the solid state and have been structurally characterized.…”

Chem.
