Intelligent Automation (IA) in automobiles combines robotic process automation and artificial intelligence, allowing digital transformation in autonomous vehicles. IA can completely replace humans with automation with better safety and intelligent movement of vehicles. This work surveys those recent methodologies and their comparative analysis, which use artificial intelligence, machine learning, and IoT in autonomous vehicles. With the shift from manual to automation, there is a need to understand risk mitigation technologies. Thus, this work surveys the safety standards and challenges associated with autonomous vehicles in context of object detection, cybersecurity, and V2X privacy. Additionally, the conceptual autonomous technology risks and benefits are listed to study the consideration of artificial intelligence as an essential factor in handling futuristic vehicles. Researchers and organizations are innovating efficient tools and frameworks for autonomous vehicles. In this survey, in-depth analysis of design techniques of intelligent tools and frameworks for AI and IoT-based autonomous vehicles was conducted. Furthermore, autonomous electric vehicle functionality is also covered with its applications. The real-life applications of autonomous truck, bus, car, shuttle, helicopter, rover, and underground vehicles in various countries and organizations are elaborated. Furthermore, the applications of autonomous vehicles in the supply chain management and manufacturing industry are included in this survey. The advancements in autonomous vehicles technology using machine learning, deep learning, reinforcement learning, statistical techniques, and IoT are presented with comparative analysis. The important future directions are offered in order to indicate areas of potential study that may be carried out in order to enhance autonomous cars in the future.

In this paper, we assess the effects of different shares of autonomous vehicles (AVs) on the traffic flow and, in particular, on the maximum possible capacity at signal-controlled intersections. For this purpose, all signal-controlled nodes in the traffic network of the Düsseldorf metropolitan area were systematically simulated and evaluated using the microscopic traffic simulation tool SUMO.The analysis shows that defensively parameterized AVs – as envisaged in the umbrella project of this research – may decrease the maximum possible traffic at signal-controlled intersections. Moreover, the simulation runs indicate that capacity at these intersections decreases almost linearly with a growing share of AV. In a second part of this analysis, a freeway section was simulated with the same varying shares of CV and AV to investigate free-flow traffic. In this case, the simulation results of the maximum traffic flow can be approximated by a third-order polynomial fit. The minimum capacity is found for the uniform share of both vehicle types (i.e. 50 % AV and 50 % CV).The overall intent of this project is to provide an approach to determine system-wide and long-term effects of AVs from local microscopic observations. To this end, the SUMO microscopic traffic simulation will be utilized to derive realistic flow capacities for signal-controlled intersections. In a next step, these capacities will be transferred to a mesoscopic traffic simulation. Subsequently, flow capacities can be systematically adjusted in this network-wide mobility simulation to parameterize the influence of future infrastructure and vehicle technologies.

Complexity science permeates the policy spectrum but not antitrust. This is unfortunate. Complexity science provides a high-resolution screen on the empirical realities of markets. And it enables a rich understanding of competition, beyond the reductionist descriptions of markets and firms proposed by neoclassical models and their contemporary neo-Brandeisian critique. New insights arise from the key teachings of complexity science, like feedback loops and the role of uncertainty. The present article lays down the building blocks of a complexity-minded antitrust method.
