Abstract. Kuncoro DD, Husodo T, Kusmoro J, Hendrawan R, Suroso, Afriyanti F, Megantara EN. 2020. Above-ground carbon stock at Kamojang Regions, West Java, Indonesia. Biodiversitas 21: 1749-1754. Kamojang is one of the regions that have the potential for carbon dioxide (CO2) sequestration and carbon storage for the southern side of West Java Province, Indonesia. The existence of vegetation as a provider of ecological services in the form of carbon dioxide (CO2) absorption and carbon storage certainly has a very important role, either in living conditions (biomass) or dead conditions (necromass). The aims of this study are to determine the total amount of above-ground carbon stock and determine the type of land-use that has the greatest carbon storage potential in the Kamojang region. Data collection in this research combines destructive and non-destructive methods. The measurement of biomass was carried out by the non-destructive sampling method for the category of sapling, poles, trees and necromass and the destructive sampling method for the category of undergrowth and litter. The results showed total above-ground carbon stored in Kamojang area is 4,995.75 t C with the largest potential value of carbon stock in the pine production forest of 163.79 t C/ha.

The forest regeneration study was conducted in a mixed dipterocarp forest and a heath forest at Bungo Range, Sarawak to determine the natural regeneration status after a series of forest disturbances. The research objectives were (i) to estimate the tree diversity in mixed dipterocarp forest and heath forest and (ii) to determine the natural regeneration status of dominant tree species with potentials for reforestation. The systematic sampling method using nested plots was conducted, in which three plots were placed at mixed dipterocarp forest and four at heath forest. The species diversity in the mixed dipterocarp forest was H' = 3.7 and heath forest is H' = 3.8. Neolamarckia cadamba was found to be the dominant timber-producing species in mixed dipterocarp forest with good regeneration. Likewise, Litsea lancifolia and Calophyllum inophyllum were the dominant timber-producing species with good regeneration in the heath forest. There was only one non-timber producing species with good regeneration, i.e. Goniothalamus uvarioides, from the mixed dipterocarp forest.

Danau Galela adalah salah satu sumberdaya perairan tawar terbesar di Provinsi Maluku Utara. Seiring dengan pertambahan jumlah penduduk, Danau Galela mengalami permasalahan degradasi lahan dari lahan hutan dan perkebunan menjadi lahan peruntukan. Hal ini berpengaruh terhadap catchment area dan badan air danau. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kondisi vegetasi dan tataguna lahan pada DTA Danau Galela. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah stratifikas untuk kualitas air, plot kuadrat untuk indeks nilai penting (INP) vegetasi, wawancara dan citra landsat untuk tataguna lahan. Hasil citra landsat menunjukan luasan daerah tangkapan air Danau Galela 3873,81 ha. Luasan Danau Galela, 390 ha. Vegetasi pada DTA didominasi oleh Cocos nucifera L., Ficus variegata Blume, Arenga pinnata Merr., Kleinhovia hospita L., Eleusine indica, Paspalum conjugatum dan Cyperus rotundus. Tata guna lahan sekitar kawasan berdasarkan hasil wawancara telah berubah dibandingkan 20 hingga 30 tahun lalu.
