“…We observe two antiferromagnetic phases in zero field, one below 12.5 K and the other above this temperature. This result is in agreement with those of Cable et al [5], Bartho, lin et al [6] and with the results obtained by Tsuchida et al from heat capacity measurements [13]. This result is in disagreement with those obtained by Nereson et al [3].…”

“…The vanishing of this remanent magnetization a t the transition temperature between the two antiferromagnetic structures can be due to the domain structure. Below 12.5 K the domain population is 100% (001)) above 12.5K the domain population is 45% (OOl), 15% (loo), 40% (010) as shown by Cable and Koehler [5]. The thermal variation of the specific heat shows an anomaly at 14 K [13] on CeBi sample treated in magnetic field.…”

“…Upon warming up the crystal, while studying a largely c-domain-populated spot, it was found that the relative populations of the a and c domains reversed at Tr,,2 (12.5 K). A similar change in domain population has been observed by Cable & Koehler (1972) and also by Hulliger, Landolt, Ott& Schmekzer (1975).…”

“…CeBi has the NaCl-type structure and is paramagnetic at room temperature. At TN1--25.2K it undergoes a transition to a type I antiferromagnetic order and at TN2 --12.5 it undergoes a second transition to a type IA antiferromagnet (Cable & Koehler, 1972). A tetragonal distortion of the lattice is associated with the first transitions and has been studied with X-rays (Hulliger, Landolt, Ott & Schmekzer, 1975;Lander, Mueller & Vogt, 1974).…”
