Abstract. From intensity of Auger transitions (1 s 2p) 1 1p, 3p__,2 p 3 2p, 2D+eA relative to ls i 2S~2p 2 1D + eA measured at 0 = 54 and 90 ° relative to the primary electron beam we have determined the alignment d2o of double vacancy states (1 s 2p) -1 xP and 3p of neon for electron impact ionization for the impact energies 1.5, 2.0, 2.5 and 4.0 keV. For Eo= 1.5, 2.0 and 2.5 keV the alignment S¢2o is compatible with zero with an upper limit of Isg201 < 0.04(5), for Eo= 4.0 keV a small negative value SJ2o = -0.06 (5) where $2o is the alignment of the initial double vacancy state, ~2 is the Auger decay parameter and/'2 (cos 0 ) is the second Legendre polynomial. In particular we had measured the anisotropy of intensity of the following Au-
