The application of multi-walled carbon nanotubes modified pencil graphite electrode for voltammetric determination of favipiravir used in COVID-19 treatment

Abstract: This study describes the first application of an improved procedure on a pencil graphite electrode decorated with functionalized multi-walled carbon nanotubes ( f -MWCNTs/PGE) for the determination of the COVID-19 antiviral drug, favipiravir (FVP). The electrochemical behavior of FVP at f-MWCNTs/PGE was examined by cyclic voltammetry and differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) methods, and it was noted that the voltammetric response significantly increased with the modification of … Show more

“…Nyquist plots obtained through EIS comprise two discernible segments: a semicircular region and a linear region. The semicircular component is indicative of the charge transfer resistance (Rct) prevalent at higher frequency domains, while the linear segment pertains to lower frequencies associated with diffusional processes [ 95 ]. Upon examining the semicircular regions, the Rct observed for the bare GCE was quantified at 7878.9 Ω, which exhibited a notable reduction to 3785.7 Ω after the introduction of functionalized NPCS (as depicted in Fig.…”

“…[32,33] Therefore, with these properties, carbon nanotubes exhibit significant surface enhancement effects compared to bare electrodes, and electrodes modified with nanomaterials are widely used. [34] Due to all these properties, it has been widely used to detect different analytes such as favipiravir, [35] paracetamol, [36] methamphetamine, [37] valrubicin, [38] valganciclovir, [39] fludarabine, [40] and sorafenib [41] with various CNT-modified electrodes.…”
