The application of scattering matrices to re-entrant cavities

Abstract: A method that utilizes the scattering matrix formulation to solve for the electromagnetic properties of re-entrant cavities is described. The process involves the cascading of several 2-port scattering matrices for overmoded circular and coaxial waveguides with abrupt radial wall transitions and the main cavity section, which is modelled as a 4-port device.
