The Application of Web Services for Real Time Charging in Mobile Networks

Abstract

This paper investigates the application of web services in the real time charging environment of mobile networks. This application of web services could allow for various benefits, both technical and economical for mobile operators and their customers. This paper describes the prototype testing of such a web service architecture for resilience and performance in a real time environment, the results of these tests prove that web services are indeed real time and resilient enough for some mobile network service like prepaid recharging but are not viable for other mobile network services.
