The association between the Lie scale of the Maudsley personality inventory and striatal dopamine D2/D3 receptor availability of healthy Chinese community subjects

Abstract: The present study examined the relationship between the Lie scale scores and striatal D(2)/D(3) receptor availability with respect to the cerebellum in 42 healthy community volunteers in Taiwan using single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) with [(123)I]iodo-benzoaminde (IBZM). Even after controlling of age and educational level, subjects' Lie scale scores of the Maudsley personality inventory correlate negatively with D(2)/D(3) receptor availability. Individual with higher Lie scale scores may have … Show more

“…Our finding of a negative association between [ 11 C]raclopride BP ND and Lie score is entirely consistent with previous research, both in terms of the direction of the association (Cervenka et al, 2010;Huang et al, 2006;Reeves et al, 2007) and its localization to the sensorimotor striatum (dorsal putamen) (Reeves et al, 2007), and therefore confirms this relationship in a fifth independent sample of volunteers. The present study additionally extends this finding in showing that IM scores correlate positively with Lie scores, and negatively with [ 11 C]raclopride BP ND in the sensorimotor striatum.…”

“…Additionally, whilst social desirability scores show strong test-retest reliability over a period of around 1-2 months (Crowne and Marlowe, 1960;Eysenck and Eysenck, 1991;Knowles and Kreitman, 1965;Paulhus, 1991;Sackeim and Gur, 1978), we are not aware of data on the reliability of social desirability scores over longer time periods. A further limitation is that, in contrast to previous studies (Cervenka et al, 2010;Huang et al, 2006;Reeves et al, 2007), we did not correct for educational level in this sample, as this data was not available in all subjects. In addition, although no significant influence of study design was detected, the PET protocols from the three studies from which personality data were collected did vary and may potentially confounded results.…”
