The Blink Reflex to Light in the Newborn: Relation to Light‐evoked Cortical Potentials in the EEG

Abstract: SUMMARY An analysis has been made of the reciprocal relationship of the blink reflex to light and the corresponding light‐evoked cortical potential in the newborn infant. On most occasions the sensory evoked cortical potential preceded the blink, but in a consistent number of observations they coincided, and occasionally the beginning of the blink appeared to precede the peak of the evoked cortical potential.
