Abstract:SUMMARY
An analysis has been made of the reciprocal relationship of the blink reflex to light and the corresponding light‐evoked cortical potential in the newborn infant. On most occasions the sensory evoked cortical potential preceded the blink, but in a consistent number of observations they coincided, and occasionally the beginning of the blink appeared to precede the peak of the evoked cortical potential. These observations favour the view that the blink reflex in the newborn infant is mediated by subcorti… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
