The Bond N-Cl. (III): A 35Cl NQR and X-Ray Diffraction Study of N-Chloro-N-(2,6-Dichlorophenyl)-Acetamides

Abstract: The crystal structures at room temperature of the N-chloro-N-(2,6-dichlorophenyl)-chloroacetamides 2,6-Cl 2 C 6 H 3 NClCOCCl 3 (1) and 2,6-Cl 2 C 6 H 3 NClCOCH 2 Cl (2) have been determined.(1): orthorhombic, Pbca. Z = 8, a = 2051.7(8) pm, b= 1134.8(4) pm, c = 1089.0(4) pm. (2): orthorhombic, Pbca, Z = S, a = 2078.7 (4) pm, b= 1487.9(4) pm, c = 694.0 (2) pm. The "CI NQR spectrum of (1) There is no problem in assigning in both compounds, on the basis of the known 35 C1 NQR frequency scale, the line Vj to the C… Show more

“…The amide and sulfonamide moieties are important constituents of many biologically important compounds. As a part of our studies of the substituent effects on the structures and other aspects of N-(aryl)-amides (Gowda et al, 2001;Saraswathi et al, 2011), N-(aryl)-methanesulfonamides (Jayalakshmi & Gowda, 2004), N-(aryl)-arylsulfonamides (Gowda et al, 2005) and N-chloro-arylsulfonamides (Gowda et al, 1996), in the present work, the crystal structure of N-(2-chloro-5-methylphenyl)succinamic acid (I) has been determined ( Fig. 1).…”

“…The structural aspects of N-aryl amides are of interest due to their chemical and biological importance. As part of our studies on the substituent effects on the structures and other aspects of N-(aryl)-amides (Bowes et al, 2003;Gowda et al, 2001;Rodrigues et al, 2011), N-(aryl)-methanesulfonamides (Jayalakshmi & Gowda, 2004), N-(aryl)-arylsulfonamides (Gowda et al, 2005) and N-chloro-arylsulfonamides (Gowda et al, 1996), in the present work, crystal structure of 4chloro-N-(2,3-dimethylphenyl)benzamide (I) has been determined ( Fig.1). In (I), the ortho-and meta-methyl substituents in the anilino ring are positioned anti to the N-H bond, similar to that observed in 4-methyl-N-(2,3-dimethylphenyl)benzamide (II) (Rodrigues et al, 2011).…”
