“…Results in Northern Africa diverged as well: in Mekele, Ethiopia, predicted productivity values from this method and the EPI model were 6.4 and 4.6 kg m −2 yr −1 , respectively, and in Agadir, Morocco, predicted productivity values were 5.3 and 4.0 kg m −2 yr −1 , respectively. Reported values in these regions thus far are well below the numbers predicted by either method (Arba, Benismail, & Mokhtari, 2002; Arba, Falisse, Choukr‐Allah, & Sindic, 2017; Boujghagh & Bouharroud, 2015; Gebretsadik, Animut, & Tegegne, 2013), suggesting that significant gains in yield may be achieved through fertilization and increasing planting density in these areas. In Northeast Brazil, yields predicted by the two methods were similar and were well above reported values in the region, which averaged 0.7 kg m −2 yr −1 and showed very high variability (Menezes, Simoes, & Sampaio, 2005).…”

“…It has good nutritional value so that it used as food and as sources of antioxidants (Asma et al, 2017). Additionally, it plays an important role in feeding ruminant species in arid and semi-arid areas (Arba et al, 2002). Cactus pear fruit has medicinal properties especially in traditional systems from time immemorial (Leem et al, 2016 andGouws et al, 2019).…”

“…In Morocco, cactus pear culture plays a prominent role in the rural populations. It is a source of food for humans and feeds for livestock and an appropriate crop for land rehabilitation in the arid regions (Arba et al, 2002). This drought-tolerant crop has various agro-inustrial uses such as cosmetics and pharmaceutical products (Barbera et al, 1995).…”
