The changing source of X-ray reflection in the radio-intermediate Seyfert 1 galaxy III Zw 2

Abstract: We report on X-ray observations of the radio-intermediate, X-ray bright Seyfert 1 galaxy, III Zw 2, obtained with XMM-Newton, Suzaku, and Swift over the past 17years. The source brightness varies significantly over yearly time scales, but more modestly over periods of days. Pointed observations with XMM-Newton in 2000 and Suzaku in 2011 show spectral differences despite comparable X-ray fluxes. The Suzaku spectra are consistent with a power law continuum and a narrow Gaussian emission feature at ∼ 6.4 keV, whe… Show more

“…However, the reflection fraction in the blurred reflector model is below unity (R ≈ 0.22), which is consistent with anisotropic emission away from the accretion disc (e.g. Gonzalez et al 2018). This could be beamed emission that arises in the base of a jet (e.g.…”

“…III Zw 002, also named Mrk 1501 and PG 0007+106, is a Seyfert 1 AGN classified as a radio-intermediate source at z = 0.089. Studies over the years have reported strong variability in III Zw 002 from high energies (γ-ray and X-ray), to radio (Brunthaler et al 2000(Brunthaler et al , 2005Liao et al 2016;Gonzalez et al 2018). These works have provided information regarding the central engine and jet activities on the subparsec scale for this source.…”

“…The seed photons of the warm Comptionization were assumed to come from the inner disk emission (i.e., T dbb was linked to T 0 of comt). We adopted the plasma temperature of the Comptonized disk to constrain the low-energy cutoff for the power-law component, and the high-energy cutoff was set to 300 keV (Gonzalez et al 2018;Buhariwalla et al 2020). We modeled the Galactic neutral absorption with the hot model (de Plaa et al 2004;Steenbrugge et al 2005).…”
