Abstract: Eukaryotic Argonaut proteins (AGOs) assemble RNA-induced silencing complexes (RISCs) with guide RNAs that allow binding to complementary RNA sequences and subsequent silencing of target genes. The model plant Arabidopsis thaliana encodes 10 different AGOs, categorized into three distinct clades based on amino acid sequence similarity.
