“…A large body of literature is emerging on the effectiveness of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) and non-invasive ventilation (NIV) therapy interventions during both the first and second waves of the COVID-19 pandemic. While several studies report consistent and coherent positivity within the CPAP/NIV outcome results1–5 others found CPAP associated with higher mortality or not associated with improved survival 6 7. In comparison with conventional oxygen therapy, preliminary data from the Recovery-RS Randomised Clinical Trial (1273 patients from UK and Jersey),8 demonstrated the superiority of CPAP in managing COVID-19 over conventional oxygen therapy, by reducing the requirement of intubation or mortality within 30 days.…”
