The component fatty acids of the glyceride and phospholipid fractions of the baobab seed (Adansonia digitata)

Abstract: Glycerides from the decorticated seed of the baobab tree (A dansonia digitata) have been extracted with acetone and the fatty acid composition investigated by reversed‐phase paper chromatography. Pure lecithin and cephalin have been isolated from the alcohol‐ether (3: 1) extract and their fatty acids studied. All fractions contain palmitic acid as the predominant saturated and oleic acid as the main unsaturated acid.
